|
|
Here are the TMC09 Uniform Requirements as outlined by the Convoy Director in his comms email sent 8 February 2009.
Uniform Requirements
I encourage you to prepare to wear a certain theme of clothing while we are on the Convoy. I say encourage because I will not mandate this for the simple reason of that being a silly way to proceed.
So, the following are my strong recommendations.
We will, for a lot of the time (reveille to retreat), be in the spotlight of the public and media. We need to put our most professional image forward for ourselves, our hobby, the MVPA, the LHA and the TMC09 project.
Name Tags: We will require you to wear your issued TMC09 Participant ID at all times. If your ID gets damaged or lost, let one of the volunteers or your March Unit Leader know and we will replace it.
Headgear: Wear hats of a design/color that is relative to our activity/hobby and the rest of your uniform/clothing. Participants who paid the $100 registration will be issued a TMC09 theme hat. They will also be available for sale on the Convoy.
Shirts: Wear t-shirts, golf shirts or button-up shirts that are relative to our activity/hobby. Not wearing a shirt is not acceptable. Those participants who paid the $100 registration will be issued a TMC09 theme t-shirt. They will also be available for sale on the Convoy.
TMC09 UNIFORM SHIRT: Wearing our uniform shirt is strongly encouraged but not required. It is a nice shirt from Cabelas. See below for purchasing details and how to prepare the shirt.
Pants/Shorts: Wear long pants or shorts of a design/color (forest green, khaki green/tan) that are relative to our activity/hobby and the rest of your uniform/clothing. No TMC09 theme pants are envisioned.
Footgear: Wear footgear of a design/color that is relative to our activity/hobby and the rest of your uniform/clothing. No TMC09 theme footwear is envisioned.
Period GI Clothing: Wearing period GI clothing relative to your MV is, of course, a great idea. May want to wear for our static shows and parades.
Other: Variants on this clothing for women are encouraged, and again I assume good taste and common sense will prevail. I leave the clothing choices for children to Mom/Dad or Grandma/Grandpa.
Common Sense Reminders
-Use sunscreen!
-Clothing worn by the folks driving our chase vehicles should reflect highly on our hobby, the MVPA, the LHA and the TMC09 Convoy project.
-Pack your coveralls or work clothes in case there is an MV to fix.
During a typical driving day:
-Dress for the weather and plan for rain!
-Although use of any of the clothing noted above is acceptable, I recommend using the TMC09 theme clothing where possible. Leave the period clothing for our static shows and parades.
-If time permits at the end of the day, when we are having a static show or parade or a hosted dinner, feel free to use your period clothing. It will look GREAT!
During a typical rest day:
-When we are having a static show, parade or hosted meal, feel free to use your period clothing. It will look GREAT! For instance, in Wooster, OH, the Marlboro Volunteers team will be in full GI uniform during our entire rest day!
-If you are out and about doing some sight-seeing or shopping, I leave the attire choices to your good judgment.
Here are the details of the TMC09 Uniform shirt:
-Wearing our uniform shirt is strongly encouraged but not required. You have to buy this shirt on your own. Use either or both long-sleeve or short-sleeve. I plan to have at least one of each.
-IMPORTANT! You will need to add a TMC09 patch and a US flag to your shirt(s). If you have paid your registration fee as of 10 February 2009 (either $100 or $30/day), I will send you one TMC09 patch and one US flag, as well as the mounting instructions. I will be happy to provide you with additional patches for $5.00 per set.
-Patches will be sent when registration fees are received.
Long-sleeve:
Cabelas Long-Sleeve Safari Shirt Regular: item # XJ-902474
Cabelas Long-Sleeve Safari Shirt Tall: item # XJ-902475
Short-sleeve:
Cabelas Short-Sleeve Safari Shirt Regular: item # XJ-902472
Cabelas Short-Sleeve Safari Shirt Tall: item # XJ-902473
Sizes: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL or 5XL
Color: Grassland
Price: $24 to $30, depending on size.
Although found in the mens section, they seem to be ok for men and women.
A note about sizing: from my experience, wearing a normal 17 inch neck x 35 inch sleeve dress shirt (I am 6 foot 2 inches tall and 230 pounds) the XL Regular fits a little loose over a t-Shirt but ok. The XL Tall was way too big! You decide from there. Cabelas has an easy return policy.
To order the Safari Shirt on-line, use this link:

To order the Safari Shirt by phone, call 1-800-237-4444 in the US or +001-308-234-5555 outside the US (select your desired language) and you will talk to a live order taker.
